MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is my last post before Christmas, I don't have any photos. I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas with family and friends and best wishes for a happy, safe and healthy 2012.

I've been reading various BLOGS over the past weeks with favourite Rum Ball recipes, the Rum Ball recipe I use was given to me by a friend many many years ago and it is by far the best rum ball I have ever tasted, give it a go you won't be disappointed.

1 sponge cake, 3/4 cup of coconut, 1/2 cup of sultanas, a couple of tablespoons of cocoa, 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk and of course Bundy Rum (I put a lot of rum in mine as our family is partial to good ole Bundy Rum LOL), mix together and put in fridge for 20 mins, roll into balls and sprinkle with coconut or chocolate sprinkles. Eat immediately, LOL LOL...

Tip: I make my own cake by using a Coles or Woolies home brand cheap cake mix.

They are best made a week before eating, this way the rum soaks in nicely. I made mine lastSaturday and will have a few Christmas Eve.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS FINISHES

The week before last I was on annual leave and was happy to have some finishes for my Christmas stash. First is this sewing machine cover I made for my eldest daughter. She inherited my machine when I was given a new one for my Birthday 2 years ago. Mind you it is still in the box, she is very busy with full time work and part time uni so doesn't get a chance to do any sewing at this point, but one day........

The pattern is from a Country Threads mag V12 No 2. I am also making one for my machine in between Christmas gift sewing.

I also managed to make 5 of these and I have put Christmas serviettes in them as well.
I have this pattern in a two page photo copy someone gave me years ago so I don't know what mag it is from....

TUESDAY TREASURES

My Tuesday Treasure today is sharing my "Weight Loss Journey" to date, it is now just over 13 weeks since I started this journey and I am very happy with my progress, I have now lost 11.3kgs and it hasn't been difficult, my goal is to lose a total of 22-24 kgs so I am around the half way mark of my goal. Two weeks ago we were on annual leave and had a couple of meals out and not the usual 6 protein meals a day every day which I should be having, it is difficult when you are out and about however I still lost 200 grams for the week and was quite pleased, any loss is good. Last week starting on Monday (first day back at work) I decided to do my walking in the mornings before breakfast as it is now getting too hot in Queensland to be walking at lunch time which I was doing before I had a week off. So now I head out about 6.30am and go up to the Botantical Gardens (in Brisbane CBD) and back to the office around 7.15am, then have breakfast. I was hoping for a 1kg loss last Saturday for the week and when I hopped onto the scales Saturday morning I was so very excited, I had lost a whopping 1.8kgs, WOOHOO.... I was so happy. We now have 5-1/2 weeks to Christmas and I am hoping to lose around 4kgs up to Christmas Eve which will make me very happy if I can achieve this. That way IF I put on a little bit over the Festive Season it gives me a bit of a buffer.

What are you sharing today, please pop on over the Melody and see you else is sharing Tuesday Treasures.

CHRISTMAS BOX FINISHES

I am slowly getting some goodies into my Christmas box stash. Remember these ?? Well they have now been transformed into

these.... they are jewellery pouches

This is what they look like inside, there are 8 little pockets to put jewellery into. I have been using one for years which I keep in my hand bag. I think I will shout myself a new one along with friends for Christmas.

I have made 5 and think I will be making a few more.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II VISIT TO BRISBANE

My Tuesday treasure today is to share the photos I took of Her Majesty yesterday.

The Queen visited our beautiful city yesterday, I work at the Riverside Centre in Brisbane CBD, for those of you who don't know the building is actually "riverside", I walked down to the Riverside Centre City Cat Terminal waiting for Her Majesty to arrive AND she was late, late late, there were lots of people along the board walk. This is not the first time I have seen the Queen in our city but I am sure it will be the last. They brought the boat so close to the boardwalk, we all had a lovely view of her.

The Queen is on the top deck wearing the green outfit.

..... and then she was gone, thankyou Queen Elizabeth for visiting and making a memorable day for us.
Pop on over to Mel's and see who else is sharing treasures today.

TUESDAY TREASURES

Today I would like to show you this cushion cover I made several years ago, well I should say started several years ago and finished 3 years ago, it is all hand pieced with individual embroidered faces. I love it and am very happy how it turned out BUT it will be a one of, it was very time consuming.

Pop over to Melody's and see who else is sharing Tuesday Treasures today.

SOME NEW FABRICS

I've been very bad and shopping at the Fat Quarter Shop again, I can't help myself when I look in the sale section. This LARGE box arrived this morning.
AND this is what was inside, all these packages

This is material for quilt top and pattern with a finished size of 63" by 63".

These are the materials, I particularly like the piece with the house for the centre of the quilt.

I purchased this piece for the back of the quilt pack I purchased.

AND then they sent me a good customer voucher for 20% off the next purchase BUT it had to be used within a week of this purchase, what was I to do. I know I should have stopped I have so many materials at home and I really don't know where they will go. So many things were going through my mind, plus I hate to miss out on a 20% discount, and then...... my addictive personality took over and there I was buying more and more fabric which will be arriving next week. Wait for the next installment of fabrics next week..... LOL

Cheers
