NEW CHRISTMAS DECORATION

I made one new addition to my Christmas decorations this year - "all hearts come home for Christmas".

I decided to put up the small Christmas tree this year, the big one only fits into the media room and Rebecca decided she wanted to look at it every night this year, so the small one it is :-)

Some photos of other Christmas decorations at my house for 2012.

I will be back tomorrow to share some of my Christmas cooking from the weekend.

Happy monday everyone.

APRON FINISH

A dear friend of mine loves cats and her favourite colour is blue, earlier this year when I was having a fabric buying frenzie I came across this gorgeous blue fabric with cats and thought how perfect it would be to make something for my friend for Christmas, I only bought 1/2 metre having no idea what I would use it for.  A few weeks ago a little voice in my head said make an apron, I didn't use a pattern and had no idea of sizing etc.  It wouldn't have been long enough as my friend towers over me which wouldn't be hard as I'm only like 5ft, Anna is about 5ft 10in - 5ft 11in, so I cut the fabric in half and put a piece of black quilters muslin in the middle and also used black for the band and ties.  I wanted to put a pocket on the apron so I cut a strip down the side of the fabric about 3 inches wide and made a striped pocket using the black and the cat fabric.  I am really happy with the finished apron, I am giving it to Anna for Christmas, I hope she likes it. I used the whole 1/2 metre of fabric, NO scraps over, very happy.

Sorry, this photo is a little blurry.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

This Sunday 25th November my husband and I will be celebrating our 34th Wedding anniversary. WOW pinch me, I cannot believe it.  We seemed to have had the odds against us right from the start, you see we had only been dating for 6 months when we were married, my Mother was so against it she wasn't coming to the Wedding so I phoned her the day before and said please come to my Wedding, she did come and wore a black short dress, 34 years ago you never wore black to a Wedding and you always wore a full length dress. Many years later I was told that my family sat around on the Sunday after our Wedding having bets on how long our Marriage would last, ummm well I am going to bet now that not one of them would have bet we would still be married now.  There was a beer strike on in QUEENSLAND at that time so we had to purchase bottled beer which came from south of the border at a great expense.  We decided to honeymoon in Sydney and Canberra, so we set off not knowing that when we reached Sydney there was a fuel strike on.  We spent a lot of our time driving around Sydney trying to find fuel stations that had fuel. So here we are 34 years later and still married, we have two beautiful daughters Kate 24 and Rebecca 20. Would you believe Stephen is the favourite Son in law. Here are a couple of our Wedding photos, they aren't real good as I took photos with my digitial camera of the original paper photos.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to us.

TUESDAY'S TREASURE

Horray, two more Christmas pressies finished, fill her skirt with candy canes and hang her near the front door for your visitors to help themselves on their way out...  She is supposed to be an angel and in the pattern she has large wings but I think she looks lovely just like this.

Just look at her cute little face :-)

AND Santa in a sack......

TUESDAY TREASURES

I was on annual leave last week and I was most pleased with the projects I finished, firstly this set.

Knitted Cardy

Crocheted cap, I couldn't find a knitted pattern, this was done so quickly, I love crochet.

Little knitted mittens

I made four burp cloths and have also cut out another four to sew up, they make up so quickly.

I used towels for the backing and I managed to cut 4 from each towel.

I also made this quick self binding baby blanket, I found a few "you tube" tutorials for these self binding blankets.

Pop on over to The House on the Side of the Hill and see who else is sharing a treasure.

BABY BIBS

Recently I made these 6 baby bibs and I have several more cut out waiting to be sewn. I am on annual leave next week and have quite a few things cut out waiting for me to sew up. I used polar fleece for the backing of the bibs and they feel so soft and cuddly. The "vegemite" one is for my dear little Marina's (living in Japan) baby due on 5 December.
